Postoperative Ileus Retrospective Performance Review
Earn additional CME/CPE credits by assessing how well you are managing your patients who are at risk for developing postoperative ileus (POI). This activity will allow you to compare your results with your peers who have also participated in the performance review activity.
STEP 1: Review Schematic Process of a Multimodal Program
Surgeons, nurses, pharmacists, anesthesiologists, and support personnel can participate in the proactive prevention and treatment of POI. Working together as an interdisciplinary team is integral to the successful implementation of a multimodal approach for patients undergoing bowel resection procedures.
STEP 2: Complete the Self-Assessment Performance Review Worksheet*
Use this checklist to evaluate your current practices with patients who are at risk for the development of POI. This can be used to review specific patient charts or as a guide to think about which of the multimodal components are currently implemented in your standard protocols for patients undergoing bowel resection procedures (or other abdominal surgeries).
*This sheet must be completed in order to obtain additional CME/CPE credits. Please find instructions on the CME/CPE attestation form.
